CERAMICS + SOUND INSTALLATION, COUNTY HALL POTTERY, SEP-NOV 2025
In this new collaboration, Carla Wright and Isobel Anderson merge ceramics and sound to explore voice, embodiment, and connection. The work combines Carla’s interest in gossip as a form of care and solidarity with Isobel’s practice of using sound as a sculptural medium.
Three wide-mouthed ceramic vessels contain variations of the same sung voice, each forming part of an evolving multi-channel composition. The voice reflects on how its own tone, timbre, and delivery affect the listener—inviting awareness of its manipulative and embodied power. Carla’s pots act as surrogate bodies for these voices, prompting both artist and audience to reconsider where the voice resides and how it might move beyond the human form.
As listeners move among the vessels, shifting resonance and phrasing reveal the intimacy and unpredictability of the female voice, echoing Isobel’s return to vocal performance after living with chronic pain.
a voice leaked out through a crack in my throat was exhibited as part of Collaborative at County Hall Pottery in Sep-Nov 2025, and will be released as a stand-alone music composition in November 2025.
