Towner Friday Late

Live podcast recording with visual and sonic artist, Daisy Stewart-Darling

August 2nd at 6.30pm BST

Catch an exclusive live recording of Girls Twiddling Knobs podcast at Eastbourne's Towner Gallery where Isobel will be speaking with sound artist Daisy Stewart-Darling about chalk, lino and sound, elements found within artwork presented in Daisy’s ONCA exhibition Lino Waves: Soundscapes of the Living Coast.

Over a three-month artist residency, Daisy collected soundscapes featuring plants, birds, fish and marine sounds from sites within the UNESCO biosphere region – an area that stretches from the chalky South Downs and the River Ouse in Newhaven along the Sussex coast to the River Adur in Shoreham-by-Sea. These field recordings audibly transport audiences around the biosphere through an interface of interactive plant-based lino prints.

The works highlight the sonic richness of non-human sounds and spark an incentive for us to cohabit better through deep listening and play. They were presented at ONCA, 19 June – 28 June.

The residency Daisy took part in was the Artist Residency for the Living Coast UNESCO biosphere, in conjunction with Sussex Digital Humanities Labs, ONCA gallery and Fabrica Arts Brighton.

This is a free event, with booking advised but drop-ins welcome.
