a voice leaked out through a crack in my throat [music release]

MUSIC RELEASE

ree

The first release in eight years from vocalist, composer and sound artist Isobel Anderson, a voice leaked out from a crack in my throat revisits the site of the voice physically, socially and internally.

After an initial vocal strain left her unable to sing for several years, Isobel began exploring what it truly means to sing: how a voice forms, what makes it distinctive, and why it moves us.

This composition confronts the currency, power and playfulness of the female voice, inviting the listener to 'play a game', noticing the ways the voice seduces, unsettles and shapes the listeners' experience in real time.

Originally conceived as a collaborative sound installation with ceramicist Carla Wright, the work draws on both artists’ shared interest in gender, voice, community and vessels, and was exhibited as part of Collaborative at County Hall Pottery (Sep–Nov 2025).
